Act Promptly

Have you ever heard that voice within you. telling you to do the right thing and your flesh was just resisting and making you do complete the opposite?

We face these situations every day of our lives and it’s our responsibility before the LORD and ourselves to act righteously. Here some examples from my life how my flesh can go against God’s will. At work, I perceive that I should reach out to a few more clients but my flesh says “no, that’s enough of calls for today, leave it for tomorrow”. At home, I perceive I should wipe my shoes off before putting them away on the shoes rack as I come back home, but my flesh says “leave it, you can put them on the rack dirty, no big deal”. At dinner time, I perceive I should cook a healthy meal, and my flesh says “order in once again”. In a relationship, I perceive I should be quiet and say no more, and my flesh says “but that’s not fair what they did to you, you should let them know, say it.” Have you ever had such a “fight” between your righteousness and your sinful flesh?

We should remember that it’s important to do the right thing and obey God. Doing right is obeying God. Listening to Him and doing what the Holy Spirit says to your heart, and not listen to our sinful fleshing. The result of your choice will also be your result either good or not.

In the Bible, when God lead His people out of Egypt, He was giving them daily manna, bread from Heaven. And their job was to collect it in the morning and it was only good for a day. They couldn’t leave it for tomorrow or it would get spoiled. And the next day God would give them new fresh manna.

“Each morning everyone gathered as much (manna) as they needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away.” Exodus 16:21.

Each morning everyone gathered as much (manna) as they needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away.
— Exodus 16:21

It is the same for us. When we perceive we should do something in a righteous way, it is our “daily manna” from God. We must act promptly and do what He tells us to do, no matter what our flesh is telling us. Do not postpone. Do not delay. Do not procrastinate. Do it now. Act promptly.

As you start listening and obeying God in small daily things, you will see how your life will start taking a completely new, different and good direction. More manna will be given to you and if you do good, God will bless you more and more. Show obedience to God and let Him bless you in every way.

So today, I want you to think what God is telling you to do and you postpone doing it. In your prayer, ask God for your “daily manna” and listen to what He tells you through the Holy Spirit. What do you perceive and what is the right thing to do? And then just do it. Act now. Act promptly. Obey the Lord. And then watch how He will transform your soul and your life.

Praise the Lord for His goodness and mercy.

Amen.

Live and Rejoice.
